Birnie Electric, in partnership with Maystar Construction, Gesco Mechanical and PBW High Voltage Ltd., supplied and installed two 1500kw diesel standby power generators complete with switchgear, remote radiators and load bank.

The installation replaced two existing 750kw diesel standby power generators in a project that had to be carefully planned and orchestrated to ensure the active hospital had a functioning backup power supply at all times. This was achieved through the use of two 1500kw temporary generators located on the outside of the building.

Nestled in the heart of East Toronto, Michael Garron Hospital (MGH), a division of Toronto East Health Network, is a vibrant community teaching hospital serving one of Canada’s most diverse communities.

We have been providing electrical service and maintenance services as well as technology, fire alarm, data and voice communication, security , nurse call, way finding, lighting, emergency/standby generator installations for 30 years. Birnie has specific infectious control training and associated equipment to safely work in all environments within the hospital.
