Design Build

Birnie Electric was the design assist partner of EllisDon to design and build the Kipling Bus Terminal. The project entailed 1,400 new parking spaces, a 3,000 sq. ft. indoor waiting area, 14 bus bays, 90 bike spaces, and a new elevated pedestrian bridge linking the facility to the existing Metrolinx GO Platform and underground tunnels that allow the facility to tie directly into the existing TTC subway station.

The goal for Metrolinx was to reduce traffic congestion, greenhouse gases, and fuel consumption all while improving the quality of life for commuters by reducing daily travel time. Birnie is happy to say we were a big part of helping the City of Toronto and the Government of Ontario accomplish their goals. We were glad to be the electrical contractor of choice on this project.
